The Last Supper

Can you guess by the pictures were four spontaneous girls ended the Barrielicious festival??? Great night by the way!! Thank you ladies xo
HINT:  I already enjoyed a dinner there.
I have to share this story because it’s just so typical of this industry. I was soooo excited to go back to this establishment; it was all I could think about all day.
It’s amazing how you can have an amazing experience one time and then an off the wall experiences the next.  Let’s face it, if you are a “server” you are either good or brutal.  There never seems to be an in-between.
I order a glass of Cabernet; I receive a Chardonnay. This was after I told her it’s imperative that it’s not a blend or a Merlot or a Shiraz.  I have this tendency to break out in hives with either of those two.  So I get the white; can’t drink that either. Two words I learned while drinking white wine were “skinny dipping” and “family reunion” Not a great vocabulary to create ;)
My lady comes back with a lovely glass of red; two sips and Lynnie is shaking her head at me; I was getting blotchy.  So we call our server over and she can’t even tell me what I am drinking????? So she yells over to Kathy the Bartender; Kathy yells back; it’s a Merlot.  Oh dear.  I quickly diluted myself with a ton of water and carried on with our yummy dinner.  The best part of this story?  Kathy was an old friend of mine that I have not seen in years.  If a wee rash was the Universe’s way of reuniting two people; then I am grateful.

Dinner was Delish!

Where was the Last Supper?  Town & Country Steak House

PIE Authentic Wood Fired Pizza

It’s Friday :)  Tonight’s dinner plans; Settlers Ghost.  That was the game plan until I came home to one very sick twelve year old.  I have no idea what is running through our school system right now but those with kids look out!  It’s nasty and long.
So what was for dinner?

PIE Authentic Wood Fired Pizza.

They were kind and allowed me to Take out their Barrielicious Menu; and what a menu it is!!  Any app, any EntrĂ©e, any dessert from their regular menu; $20.  Now that is how you promote you’re menu!!!  Well done!!!

In all honesty, when I dine out I never order pasta or pizza. Why ?and forgive my awesomeness as I say this ; I make Amaaaaaazzzzing pastas and I haven’t eaten a better pizza than Randy’s.  Twenty some odd years in this industry; I better had learned how to make something ;)

1 Caesar Salad, 1 Tomatoes on Toast (Fancy way to say Bruschetta) 1 Spaghetti and Meatballs 1 Papperdalle - Braised Beef Shank and Mushrooms and Loads of Parmesan and 2 Cheesecakes Please and Thank you : )

I have never been; it’s fun inside; very casual. Pizza Artist on display and the kitchen is Open.  Big Screen on the wall, bar area separate from the dining area; a perfect independent family spot.
I instantly got that , “Oh no its gonna be Kelsey type food” : (  As I patiently waited for my order I noticed the Chef was an old industry colleague ; Phheeewwwww; that was a close call; dinner was going to be fine.
And that it was, the beef in my pasta melted in my mouth.  The cheese cake was homemade and yummy.  Best part?
There is a Mac N Cheese with wood fired bacon waiting in my fridge for when my twelve year old is feeling better and if not it’s mine : )

Thanks for accommodating!!!

Silks

What better way to spend "Hump Day" than at an elegant upscale establishment overlooking the picturesque Horseshoe Valley; I wish! It was soooo dark that the only thing I could see was the reflection of myself drooling with anticipation.

I must admit; the last time I had the opportunity to indulge at Silks was over ten years ago when I supervised the lounge/dining room. I was Spoiled!!! I ate like a Queen nightly : )  This would be the first time I was paying for a dinner.

I started my dinner off with The Roasted Butternut Squash and Apple Soup; never had that before! Butternut squash holds a special place in my heart as its a sweet vegetable and it compliments my sweet tooth generously!

What a unique combination of flavors.  Delightful.

Keeping the fruit theme going I moved on to the Strawberry Balsamic Glazed Chicken Supreme no potato extra veg!  Be daring and try this; the only thing you will want to do after eating this is go home and try to master this dish yourself.

And for the Grand Finale: Another glass of Cabernet and a beautiful piece of Red Velvet Cheesecake.

Quaint, professional and worth the drive!

Thank you for a lovely reunion
